Nuneaton Ladies 1s’ journey to the national final has been built on resilience, teamwork, and steady belief—along with a slightly tongue-in-cheek reflection that their early-season ambitions may not have quite gone to plan. There were quiet thoughts that a route through the Plate might prove more straightforward, but the team had other ideas and have grown into the competition with each round.

The campaign began with a hard-fought 1–1 draw against Bretforton, with Nuneaton holding their nerve to progress 3–1 in a penalty shootout. A high-scoring 3–3 encounter with Berkhamsted & Hemel Hempstead followed, before a disciplined 1–0 win over London Edwardians after another tense shuffle ending, demonstrated the team’s ability to manage tight contests. The semi-final saw another composed performance, overcoming Andover 2–1 to secure a place in the final.

Throughout the run, captains Anna and Lara have provided calm and consistent leadership, helping to keep the squad focused and together. In recent weeks, preparation has been thorough, with additional training sessions, match-specific drills, and increased fitness work reflecting the group’s commitment.

Emma Chester has been outstanding in goal, making important saves at key moments, while Anna has contributed crucial goals, supported by creativity and assists from across the team. Every player has played their part in reaching this stage.
