Hi everyone,
As we are Halfway through the season, I just wanted to give an update on what we have done and are still doing to push the club forward on top of what was shared to the end of August.
1. Training has seen excellent numbers even through the winter and we have brough Matt on board to help and support Sean with the large level of demand we have.
2. We have sorted some teas out with a reduced price which are going down well with club members.
3. We held a Quiz night run by Chris Lynch (Thanks Lynchy) which was a fantastic night and saw us raising about £500 for the club.
4. Hosted the Mini’s tournament that was a fantastic success for us on and off the pitch. (Thank you Amber!). Overall the junior section is thriving, with increasing numbers all the time – what’s more we are really performing on the pitch which is great to see!
5. Ran an after-school club at St Nicks to promote hockey close to our pitch. 5 sessions run generating income for the club and promoting the sport. Thanks to Sean for this.
6. Held initial P.E. sessions at Etone to again encourage the sport and try to bring in more young members. Thanks to Jen Harris and Sean for arranging and running these.
7. Held a fabulous Christmas social run by Booker to bring the club together. Thank you, Booker.
8. Held the Junior Christmas social – getting parents and children playing hockey over the Christmas break and playing games at Ambleside. Thank you Robyne Owen for organising.
9. We have converted the ladies 3rd team to a development team to support participation and help the club grow.
10. The ladies have progressed to the quarter finals in the Club championships – this is a great achievement, winning twice on flicks.
With the second half of the season about to start, all teams have put on a good show so far this year, with a bit more work to do in the second half – we are aiming to:
a. Get the Ladies 1st team promoted
b. Maintain current league status for the Men’s 1s, Ladies and Men’s 2s.
c. Increase participation in both the Ladies and Men’s 3s.
Thanks for all your efforts and enjoy the second half of the season
