Nuneaton Hockey Club
First 120 days
Hi everyone,
As we are about to start the season, I thought it useful to give everyone an update on where we are and everything we have done since May and specifically since my last update.
Over the last 60 days (July and August) we have:
- Started training again and have seen excellent number and participation – last week we saw 42 adult members on Wednesday night. We also saw 23 juniors last Sunday.
- The online shop went live and has been a success with the next kit order available and closing the 14th of September – get your orders in.
- Organised a Memorial Match for Winnie with over 50 attendees, and are still calculating the charity funds raised. Special mention to Sarah Booker, Mary, Taps for organising as well as Cassie and family for helping on the day.
- Arranged for our new Sponsor EKTE – who have contributed to our club, and we will use this to propel our investment and keep the club growing.
- We have held a goalkeeper coach trial and agreed for Richard Perry to join us and help us develop our goal keepers – he will be there this week Wednesday 10th Sept.
- Created flyers and pushed these into local schools to promote the club.
- We have agreed with one primary school that we will arrange an after school hockey club- this will get us more juniors involved and fit for the future.
- We are in discussions with Etone and how we can do an after-school event with them to also promote hockey with juniors aged 11-16 years.
- Continued our recruitment across the club and we have seen even more fresh faces join the club which is a sign we are moving in the right direction.
- We have switched our payment system to Go Cardless; please complete the process so we can track membership numbers and maintain the club's financial health. Sign up under the shop section at www.nuneatonhockeyclub.com
We are continuing to do more around the club and are looking at the following:
- Next week on the 14th of September we will hold a family fun day and launch family hockey on Sunday’s that will follow directly after junior training. It will be 11:00-12:00 starting 21st of September every Sunday.
- Friendlies start next week where we can prepare for the season.
- 3rd of October Quiz night to get us all together.
- After match teas are proving difficult but we endeavour to have a solution before games start. We always have our fall-back option if we cannot get a suitable alternative.
As a recap this is what we did over the first 60 days (May and June):
- We have agreed for our new Coach Shaun to join the club who will be pivotal in supporting Team development and Junior Development
- Signed the heads of terms with Akuma who will be our kit provider for the next 3 years. We have also worked to set up an online shop, that you can access via our website: www.nuneatonhockeyclub.com
- Re-launched our social and family hockey on Sunday Mornings.
- Established Card payments via Pitchero which will soon make it easier for you to pay your subscriptions.
- Held an award ceremony for our junior section at Ambleside Sports Club.
- Held meetings with England Hockey’s Facility Development Manager to discuss facility development and still working to get a meeting with Etone to discuss maintenance.
- Another great discussion with England Hockey Club Development Manager and gained contacts to help us get better access to more members and promote our club in schools.
- Designed posters for the club to aid advertisement.
- Agreed 4 new and returning members of the committee to support Indoor, Ladies 2nd Team, Welfare officer and Treasurer.
- Brought together a club sponsorship proposal that we will be distributing to local businesses to help raise funds for the club.
