Chairmans Progress update - first 60 days

James Norman23 Jun - 19:16

Good progress being made against the core objectives of the strategy

Hi everyone,

I was encouraged to provide an update on what we as a committee have been up to over the last 60 days to give you an insight into what we are trying to achieve and some of the actions we have taken to improve our club.

Firstly, we have set at our new Vision for the Club that is there to help guide and drive the strategy over the next 5 years, against this vision which you can find in the documents section of our website we have launched 8 key themes that we will be focusing on:

1. Team Development
2. Junior Development
3. Social Activity
4. Membership Experience
5. Advertisement
6. Facility Development
7. Sponsorship/funding
8. And of course, Financial Health

Over the last 60 days we have:

  • We have agreed for our new Coach Sean to join the club who will be pivotal in supporting Team development and Junior Development
  • Signed the heads of terms with Akuma who will be our kit provider for the next 3 years. We have also worked to set up an online shop, that you can access via our website: www.nuneatonhockeyclub.com
  • Re-launched our social and family hockey on Sunday Mornings.
  • Established Card payments via Pitchero which will soon make it easier for you to pay your subscriptions.
  • Held an award ceremony for our junior section at Ambleside Sports Club.
  • Held meetings with England Hockey’s Facility Development Manager to discuss facility development and still working to get a meeting with Etone to discuss maintenance.
  • Another great discussion with England Hockey Club Development Manager and gained contacts to help us get better access to more members and promote our club in schools.
  • Designed posters for the club to aid advertisement.
  • Agreed 4 new and returning members of the committee to support Indoor, Ladies 2nd Team, Welfare officer and Treasurer.
  • Brought together a club sponsorship proposal that we will be distributing to local businesses to help raise funds for the club.

We really want to bring people together as soon as possible and so we have socials that are planned, and we will be in touch soon.

Finally, volunteering to help the club is rewarding and can help you do something meaningful and impactful and can be great fun. We are always looking for volunteers to help us.

A couple of examples are:

  • Supporting a Club open day in mid-September
  • supporting club development by contacting and supporting coaching in schools
  • and finally an Umpires secretary.

If you are interested, please reach out and contact me as there is always something we want support and help with and are open to your ideas.
