Hi everyone,
As we are about to embark on another season, I thought it relevant to provide an update on what we have completed over the summer and what we hope the season has in store for us.
Firstly, welcome to the new season and I hope it is an enjoyable and successful one!
A huge thank you to everyone who has coached, organised, umpired, volunteered or simply helped over the summer. The growth we're seeing doesn't happen without people giving their time, and it's hugely appreciated.
Want to get involved?
With the club continuing to grow, we'd love more members and parents to get involved — particularly with junior coaching, Badgers, umpiring, socials and general club activities. You don't need loads of experience; if you'd like to help, please get in touch.
A brief overview:
1. Training has restarted and we have seen fantastic numbers hitting roughly 40 members every session so far.
2. We have seen an influx of demand for Goalkeeper training which is fantastic and we are exploring how we expand with this growth.
3. We launched Hockey For All – this is a brand-new initiative that is all about having fun and building confidence for players – the feedback so far has been fantastic
4. We have put forward our entries for the Hockey Championships, and we will be entering a mixed team and a Men’s team this year.
5. We have held a fun family social run by Martin and Booker which brought new and old members together – and we have plans for a social event in early October – stay tuned for this.
6. We have started to investigate funding options to help propel the club to the next level and provide sporting equipment that will be used to improve sessions for all of us.
7. The junior section is quite frankly expanding at a rate that is beyond our expectations, and we are gaining support from members to help coach and expand with this growth.
8. We have entered a Badger’s team (ages 10-15) this year which I am super excited to watch and be a part of.
9. We entered the junior tournament at KL with the under 10s claiming victory
10. And finally, we welcomed some new faces to our committee. They've already brought fresh energy and ideas to the club, and I'm looking forward to seeing the impact they make.
Our ambition
On the pitch
• Compete for promotion across our senior teams — with an ambition of 4 promotions from 6 teams.
• Continue developing our Badgers pathway.
• Give more juniors opportunities to transition into adult hockey and our 1st teams.
Off the pitch
• Maintain the fantastic numbers we're seeing at training.
• Grow Hockey For All and bring new people into the sport.
• Continue expanding our junior section.
• Develop more coaches, umpires and volunteers.
• Run more club social events and create a great Saturday experience.
• Secure external funding to invest in equipment and improve what we can offer members.
There is a huge amount happening across the club and plenty to be excited about. Thank you to everyone who continues to give their time, energy and support to Nuneaton Hockey Club.
Most importantly, let's enjoy our hockey, support each other and make 2026/27 a season to remember.
See you at the pitch!
Chris
