It’s back! The long awaited Centenary Challenge returned in style as the 2 Nuns’ intraclub teams met for game 1 in the battle for the coveted 100 year old trophy. The Whites started strongly and after a series of attacks, forced a penalty corner. The Greens defenders denied the Whites a clear shot on goal but it the melee, veteran Pat Veasey found the back of net to give the Whites the lead.

Big hearted cricket and hockey players raise money for Pulmonary Fibrosis Trust

Members of Ambleside Cricket Club and Nuneaton Hockey Club recently joined forces to try each others’ sports by staging a charity cricket and hockey match. The matches raised £295 for the Pulmonary Fibrosis Trust in memory of Mike Farrall, a long and loyal member of the Ambleside Club. Centenary Challenge : The Final

Greenfriars 3 Whitefriars 0 Despite COVID 19, the Whites and Greens faced each 14 times over the 2020/21 season. With the White’s currently enjoying a narrow lead, it was vital for the Greens to get a result. However, things didn’t immediately go to plan. After 8 hotly contested games and only one win separating the intraclub teams, the Greenfriars were looking to level the series this week. With lockdown 3 at an end, the Greenfriars and Whitefriars met again for game 8 in the Centenary Challenge. The Whites started sharply and quickly pressed the Greens goal. Resolute defending kept the Whites at bay until a cracking shot from Fiaaz Vorajee took a deflection from Green’s Captain Kev Chester to find the back of the net. Hockey is BACK

The first game back after lockdown 2 was eagerly anticipated by both teams. The Greenfriars were desperate to continue their winning streak whilst the Whitefriars, still smarting from their 7 goal hammering in the last game, were set on revenge.
