After 8 hotly contested games and only one win separating the intraclub teams, the Greenfriars were looking to level the series this week. With lockdown 3 at an end, the Greenfriars and Whitefriars met again for game 8 in the Centenary Challenge. The Whites started sharply and quickly pressed the Greens goal. Resolute defending kept the Whites at bay until a cracking shot from Fiaaz Vorajee took a deflection from Green’s Captain Kev Chester to find the back of the net. Hockey is BACK

The first game back after lockdown 2 was eagerly anticipated by both teams. The Greenfriars were desperate to continue their winning streak whilst the Whitefriars, still smarting from their 7 goal hammering in the last game, were set on revenge. Greenfriars are back in the game. With game 6 in the Centenary Challenge a ‘must win match’ for the remodelled Greenfriars team the pressure was on from the start. ‘Centenary Challenge Game 5 : Whitefriars 7 Greenfriars 2’

The Whitefriars dealt a decisive blow to the Greenfriars winning the latest game 7 -2. The Whites now have 4 wins in the competition with one game drawn. For the Greens, the next game is a “must win” if they are to have a chance of winning the 100 year old trophy. However, with at least 8 games still to play, the Whites still have along way to go and some tough matches ahead.

Training Update

TRAINING & MATCH UPDATE: Etone Sports Centre is now open for us to commence training and playing.  There are still some restrictions in place but Wednesday evenings and Saturdays are back.
