With one game separating the two teams, this match promised to be a close one and it didn’t disappoint.
Both teams attacked relentlessly from the push back but it was the Whites who took the lead with a blistering short corner strike from Alex Harcourt. Undaunted, the Greens fought back, winning a string of penalty corners with Liam Spiller equalling the score with a perfect strike from the top of the D.
With all square at half-time, both teams came out fighting and there was plenty of attacking and defensive action. The teams were so well matched that a draw looked on the cards, but the Greens still had one more ace to play. Forcing a short corner, they slipped the ball wide of the post giving young Tolli Walton-Hayfield a chance to deflect the ball, he took it, bagged his first competition goal and gave the Greens their win.
With 4 wins each and 2 drawn games, it’s now all square in the battle to win the 100 year old trophy, so bring on game 11.
