Super Sunday

It was indeed a Super Sunday for game 3 of the Centenary Challenge with a record 32 players turning out for the two competing teams.

With the Whitefriars leading the series 2 games to nil, the Greenfriars were desperate for a win.

However, it was the Whites who started strongest pinning the Greens into their own half. The continued pressure  paid off and a well worked short corner gave Oz Yasin the chance to slam the ball home to give the Whites the lead.

The second half saw the Greens rally and pile on the pressure. Good attacking play allowed the Greens to draw level after Lee Summers’ through ball was powered into the back of the net by young Alex Harcourt.

Both teams pushed hard to gain the advantage but this time, the game finished all square.

After 3 games, the Whitefriars maintain their unbeaten record, but with a minimum of 12 games still to play, the fate of the 100 year old trophy is wide open.
