Game 6 : Greenfriars 0 Whitefriars 0
With freezing wind howling down the Etone pitch the Greens and Whites faced up for Game 6 in the Centenary Challenge Trophy. With all square in the series so far, both teams were looking for the chance to steal the advantage.
Both sides started confidently with good attacking play but few real opportunities created by either side. Following the half time team talks, the Whites pushed on, dominating the attack and forcing a series of penalty corners which were confidently dealt with by the Green’s defence. The Whites continued to pile on the pressure and looked to have snatched a winner. A goal mouth scramble presented the ball to young Charlie Baker who slammed it into the bottom corner. The White’s celebrations were short lived however, as the goal was disallowed owing to a stick tackle in the preceding melee. Both teams continue to battle hard but the end result was an honourable draw. With a minimum of 5 games still to be played the fate of the 100 year old trophy still rests in the balance.
