Game 7 : Greenfriars 0 Whitefriars 1

Posted by James Pennington on 5 April 2019

In contrast with the freezing conditions of game 6,  the 7th game in the Centenary Challenge Trophy pushed back in almost mid-summer conditions. With all square in the series so far, both teams were looking to outshine the other.

The Whites started confidently with the young mid-field players creating some real goal scoring opportunities. The sustained pressure finally paid off when Alex Harcourt picked up a rebounded shot from Tait Shipman on the edge of the D and smashed it low past the Green’s keeper for his first goal of the competition. The second half saw the Whites piling on the pressure again but resolute work from the Green’s defence, especially from young defender Kyle McCullagh, kept the Whites at bay. The Greens battled hard, but were outshone on this occasion by the fluid attacking play of the Whites.

With a minimum of 4 games still to be played the Whites may have a slender advantage but the 100 year old trophy is still up for grabs.
